Take On Me Casting Call

Take On Me: Casting Call !

We are casting for a lifeguard in Take On Me, touring to UK leisure centres in Autumn 2018 - Spring 2019

TAKE ON ME, takes place after hours in six local leisure centres across the country. Set in the 1980s world of headbands and leg warmers, it follows a lonely woman coming to the gym for the first time and a lifeguard who has never saved anyone.

We are now looking for a skilled actor for the role of Chris Shreeves, the leisure centre lifeguard. He has been in the job for a long time and is stuck in a rut, and feels unable to acknowledge or be open about his sexuality. Over the course of the action, he comes to acknowledge his true feelings.

We are particularly interested in receiving BAME suggestions, with a playing age of 35 - 50 for this role. Full frontal nudity is required in this role; a key scene takes place in the leisure centre Changing Rooms where Chris is briefly naked whilst changing his clothes. Confident swimming ability is also a requirement.

Take On Me Tour

Take On Me Tour

We're so excited to announce that Take On Me's application to the Arts Council's Strategic Touring programme has been successful! We have been overwhelmed by the energy and investment from our partners to bring the Take On Me project across the UK: South Street Arts, Ideas Test, Creative Arts East and Ealing Council, The Lowry and Lighthouse Poole.

We're looking forward to revisiting the legwarmers and headbands, creating new local casts everywhere we go and training the site-specific producers and makers of the future. Performance dates will be announced very soon!
