Every
year, dANTE OR dIE set up new dOd Devising Collectives
around London. Each group of young people are exposed
to the devising and working methods of the company, and
create their own piece of theatre.
FLIGHTS
OF DESIRE

Three
new performances by dANTE OR dIE Devising Collectives
2007
Young
people from Hackney, Bethnal Green and Islington have
been busily devising three new pieces of performance since
October. Each group has been given the title ‘Flights
of Desire’ to inspire them – the shortest
route between an origin and destination which shows where
people want to travel. They have created work about where
they’ve been in life, where they want to go and
where a whole range of new characters are going. They
tell their stories through dance, text, music and light
in dOd’s first annual Devising Collective’s
Cross Borough Performance of New Theatre.

MEMORY
LANE
In
August 2007, Terry O’Donovan directed the site-specific
performance Memory Lane for Limerick Youth Theatre as
part of their ten year anniversary production entitled
Tentacle. The piece was performed in the lane behind the
Belltable Theatre by five youth theatre members to rave
reviews:
"Damsels
who could only be figments of Byron's imagination run
wild in a stonewalled city lane. One yearns in song for
a lost love while framed criminally in a mews arch; another
juggles with the crowd in a delirium; a third runs like
the clappers from hell in her mind.
But it was no hell for the audience, this closing final
act to Tentacle that was staged in the lane menacing behind
the Belltable - Memory Lane was Terry O'Donovan's brilliant
work...”
