INTRO:
dANTE
OR dIE want to open up the world multi-formed arts (theatre,
music, dance, design) to young people and encourage participation,
understanding and creativity based upon it. Working within
a theme from a dANTE OR dIE production (see examples below),
we create an open exchange with workshop participants.
Young people are invited to bring their ideas and cultural
references to the workshops in order to influence the
performances which they create with us. At the heart of
dOd's performance lies the personal: the people in a rehearsal
room create everything an audience will see onstage. This
concept forms the basis of our workshops.
AIMS:
dANTE
OR dIE's workshops aim to:
• provide young people with the opportunity to engage
with and participate in alternative forms of performance
• invite young people to take ownership of their
own creative and communicative process; acknowledging
the variety of levels young people adopt in order to create
a performative world.
• encourage participation, belonging, sharing and
trust to create an understanding that all actions have
consequences
• create an environment whereby a true exchange
of ideas, knowledge and perspectives mean that young people
have the power to work with their own instincts and influences.
• initiate a rethinking of environment; participants
reinterpret and re evaluate what a space can mean and
be used for.
